Our Problem Statement:
In order to relieve debilitating phantom limb pain and increase the chance of prosthetic adoption, Amputees must exercise the muscles closest to the limb that was lost early after amputation. How can we challenge early lower-arm amputees to keep working muscles related to their missing appendage in order to reduce phantom limb pain and increase their likelihood of prosthesis adoption?
By utilizing the power of a modern Android smartphone, immersion of headset AR, Myo Gesture armband, and Soliton Reach, we will create an experience unlike anything modern medicine has ever produced. We will create an experience where a lower arm amputee can control an Augmented Reality arm that is projected over the amputation point to complete a digital recreation of the Box & Block manual dexterity test.
