Our Problem Statement:
Melanoma is the deadliest form of skin cancer and is often identified by the appearance of moles. 5-10% of the population have atypical moles and many do not realize that a mole might be dangerous, and often do not see dermatologists regularly, especially in rural areas where sun exposure is more prevalent and doctors less so.
Moleshare is a mobile application that allows users to peer review and crowdsource identification of atypical moles with a “Hot or Not” style swiping interface. Submitters attach photos and comments to their post, and other users can learn the ABC’s of mole identification so that they can flag posts with their own comments, or ask for more information. Dermatologists will also be able to have verified accounts to provide user credibility.
